One would hope that the reason people do kind things is not because they are waiting for a thank you.  However, when a heartfelt thank you does come through, its power and significance are unmistakable.

Following is a note written by a teacher who desperately needed physical education equipment for her first grade class and posted her wish list on Donors Choose.  Several people answered her call (including a teacher we know) and made a contribution.  While her needs were basic, her appreciation was anything but as evidenced in her lovely note of gratitude:

Dear Camille, Dean, Michael, Mary, Andrew, Ari, Terry, Bryan, Jenn, Teresa, Kris, Mrs. Brown, Angie, Kim, Aleice, Vanessa, and Anonymous Donors,

I cannot tell you how my students truly enjoy the Physical Education equipment you so generously purchased for us.  Every student has a ball to practice their throwing and catching skills.  The CD player allows us to bring high-energy music to the yard.  The use of the parachute in lesson as has been tremendous learning opportunity for the students and myself.  The kids really have to listen carefully and work together as a team.  After each activity, the students are panting from the exertion and grinning from ear to ear.

Thank you again for giving my students a fun way to learn cooperation and get their heart rates up!
